Jesus says (in Mt 24:34): ‘This generation will not pass away until this happens’. And the return of Jesus will happen within a generation. The fig tree that sets the buds is interpreted as Israel returning to his land. Fig that Hosea (Hosea 9:10) says is a symbol of Israel: ‘Learn the parable from the fig tree … when the leaves sprout you know that summer is near’. Therefore 1948 is the year of the end of the times of the evangelization of the pagans or of the peoples.Īnother chronological reference is the Parable of the Fig tree (Mt 24,32). The Lord Jesus (in Matthew 24,3) to this question of his disciples: “Lord, when? What will be the sign of your Parousia and of the end of time? ” he answers (Luke 21:24): “Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the pagans until their times are fulfilled”.Īfter the dispersions decided by the Roman emperors, in 70 and 132, and 1900 years of exile in 1948 the Jews returned to Palestine as the seat of their people, (and in 1967 they also regained control of Jerusalem as their capital).
